The University of Sheffield has established its track record in manufacturing via a network of world-leading research centres and industry partnerships.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering is one of the largest in a UK university, undertaking research in a broad range of disciplines which includes advanced manufacturing, energy, tribology, and structural integrity.

The Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre with Boeing (the AMRC) at The University of Sheffield is part of the UK's High Value Manufacturing Catapult. It has a wide range of research capabilities.

The AMRC applies its knowledge and delivers impact across a range of sectors including aerospace, automotive and transport, construction, energy and medical.

The University of Manchester is home to the largest metallurgy research grouping in a UK university.

Its internationally recognised expertise in Light Alloys and world-leading characterisation facilities are currently being showcased as part of the EPSRC project LightForm.

The University of Nottingham hosts international centres in broad manufacturing disciplines, including the EPSRC Future Composites Manufacturing Research Hub.

Its Nanoscale and Microscale Research Centre and state of the art CNC centres are complemented by a bespoke DSIF machine and in-house ISF toolpath design software.
